Overview

Luxembourg's investor residence permit, launched in 2017, is aimed at entrepreneurs and wealthy investors. The main route is an investment of at least €500,000 in a Luxembourg company that maintains or creates jobs; alternatives are €3 million in an investment structure with real substance in Luxembourg, or a €20 million deposit with a Luxembourg bank held for five years. Real estate does not qualify.

The first permit is valid for three years and renewable while the investment is maintained. After five years of residence, investors can naturalise by passing the Luxembourgish language test and the “Living together in the Grand Duchy” course.
