2026 update: A draft law published in June 2026 would remove the fixed investment routes. It is not yet adopted – current rules apply until parliament votes.

Overview

North Macedonia grants citizenship to foreign investors under Article 11 of its Law on Citizenship. The current routes are a €200,000 contribution to an approved private investment fund, held for at least two years, or a direct investment of €400,000 in a new business that creates at least ten jobs.

A draft law published in June 2026 would remove these fixed routes in favour of case-by-case national-interest decisions. The draft has not been adopted, so the current rules still apply – your advisor confirms the status before you commit.
